Anna Borràs – dance performance „Boreali Land“
  • Spanish dance artist invites you to witness the birth of the Northern Lights through dance, light, and sound.
  • Internationally acclaimed Spain contemporary dance artist and choreographer Anna Borràs presents Boreali Land, a small-format adaptation of her production Boreali.
Boreali Land is a meditative, poetic journey through temperatures, colors, silence, and vibration – allowing the audience to move freely within the space and become part of an evocative Arctic landscape.
It’s a universe where stillness meets motion, and where the ephemeral beauty of the polar night is reimagined through contemporary dance.
You will be able to see dance performance on May 16.

ENG
This is my and your contemporary love story, our contemporary sutartinė.
A self-portrait of our ambitions, vulnerabilities, and burnout.
This is my attempt to be with you. An attempt to merge with you, while keeping myself. To fade into you, to fold you into myself.
In art, there are no compromises – there is only truth – mine and yours. Mine or yours.
Exactly because I love you, I no longer want to choose – mine or yours. My sense of time or your sense of time. Where is our shared time?

"Oblicus" is a passionate exploration into the world of polyphonic dance, aimed at creating a hypnotic duet where parallel rhythms intertwine, highlighting the contrast between personal and collective perceptions of time. The concept of "oblicus" – neither parallel nor straight, yet neither together nor apart (from Latin, meaning slanted or skewed) – runs through the dance, sound, and light composition with elegant asymmetry, metaphorically reflecting the nuances of the relationship between two people and their attempts to understand each other. In the impressive tapestry of choreography, the structures of multi-voice (counterpointed) movement chains emerge as key elements of expression, reflecting the longing for absolute understanding and impossible fusion into one whole. Within the universe of this dance, time is not a linear, fixed dimension, but rather an individually defragmented process that evolves.

"Oblicus" is a metaphysical love duet.

"Oblicus" was created with the support of the State Culture Capital Foundation, Riga City Municipality, Latvian Dance Information Center, The Association of Choreographers and NGO Centre, and some stages of the development took place within the HOROS Dance Residency.
